I am traveling to the USA next month and I want to open bank accounts for my LLC and personal. I have a question relating to the residential address for personal banking for NRA’s. I do have a (virual) mailing address in the USA, but most banks request for a utility bill, bank statement or rental agreement for a residential address.
It is just for opening the account. Mailing address will be used for the mailing. I did have a look at:
Cloud Residents - $999/year
Savvy Nomad - $ 265/month
This are all residential address services. Basically I only need a proof of address. Anyone with any creative ideas?
I did have a look at Vonage for home, but they require a service address and need a shipping address for sending their phone adapter.
I unfortunately don’t have contact living in the USA.
The cheap option is to have a mailing address that you can use as a residential address because banks don’t like virtual/mailing addresses. There’s two data points that banks often use; rdi which categorizes an address as residential or commercial, and whether or not it’s flagged as a CMRA (commercial mail receiving agency).
Obviously if you know someone who’s address in the US you can use then that’s the easiest, but since you don’t the cheapest option is to use an address from a service like iPostal1/Anytime Mailbox that isn’t flagged as a CMRA, and ideally has a residential rdi (but commercial can work).
Vonage should work for you for proof of address; see this resource for more info. But if you can just open some sort of bank account/credit card (eg Capital One allows you to get a card with an ITIN and generally doesn’t require proof of address) then you can often just use that for easy proof of address.
is it possible to lease an apartment for short term you are there instead of staying in airbnbs or hotel? if so that lease might be possible as proof of address
not related but do you have itin? if not getting in the usa is better and faster and it’s helpful with bank while opening accounts
